Budget cuts cause concern for college - Justina Contenti and Jeannette Benoit, Vermilion Standard

Glenn Charlesworth, President and CEO of Lakeland College, agreed saying the next little while will be a challenging time for the college. “Lakeland College, along with all of the other colleges and universities had our basic grant reduced 7.3 per cent,” said Charlesworth. “So for us in round numbers, that’s about three million dollars we’ve got to find now.” Charlesworth said the cuts are going to have an impact on people involved with the college both directly and indirectly. “When we’re talking about people losing their jobs—ya, it’ll have a significant impact on those individuals, of course, and their families, but also on the college because we’ll have fewer people here to try and do the same kind of work,” said Charlesworth. http://www.vermilionstandard.com/2013/03/11/budget-cuts-cause-concern-for-college
