Fayetteville State students lobby against university budget cuts - Paul Woolverton, Fay Observer

Students from Fayetteville State University were part of a group of about 40 to 50 students from historically black universities who asked state lawmakers on Tuesday to avoid making cuts to the schools and to student financial aid programs. Among them was 19-year-old speech-communication major Maybelyn Rodriguez (pictured at right at the gathering’s news conference). Past budget cuts made it hard for students to plan ahead and meet their goals, Rodgriguez said. Some students have had to postpone graduation, she said, because schools cut back on the availability of classes when their state revenues were slashed. http://blogs.fayobserver.com/peoplesbusiness/February-2013/Fayetteville-State-students-lobby-against-universi
