NMSU tuition, fee hike possible next school year - Lindsey Anderson, Las Curces Sun-News
New Mexico State University main campus students could see tuition and fees increase up to 4.2 percent under a proposed budget for the next school year. Tuition increases and faculty salaries were key topics of a budget workshop Monday, at which university budget and finance administrators discussed priorities of the 2014 fiscal year with regents.
In a departure from past years, the meeting was open to the public and non-voting members of the board. The proposed budget prioritizes faculty and staff compensation, enhancements to graduate student programs and improving the university's funding formula performance measures, Angela Throneberry, senior vice president for administration and finance, told regents at Monday's 7 a.m. meeting. "The university needs to be committed to the highest possible level of education at the lowest cost," interim President Manuel Pacheco said.
