Salem Community College budget projects nearly $1 million drop in revenue - Michael Williams, South Jersey Times
The Salem Community College Board of Trustees approved the college’s 2014 fiscal year budget, which proposes to spend about $1 million less than the previous year. The board approved a 2014 budget of around $10.44 million, which is a reduction from the 2013 budget of $11.36 million. According to figures provided by the college, SCC is anticipating a drop in revenue due to a slight dip of about 3.4 percent in enrollment, a 4 percent reduction in state funding, and a drop in miscellaneous revenues. On the plus side, the college is projecting greater revenue provided through business and community partnerships, from around $155,000 to $250,000, according to the college’s projections. To make up the overall drop in revenue, college President Joan Baillie said there will a reduction in total staff at SCC, and resources will be reallocated to create a cost savings.
