NMSU community reacts to potential budget plans - Lindsey Anderson. Las Cruces Sun-News
The Board of Regents will likely choose between three proposed budgets, two of which include tuition increases, on April 3. The plans prioritize faculty and staff compensation. Housing costs, parking fees and university fees will also be decided. No increase to tuition and fees is possible if the board chooses to implement only the required increases, faculty promotion and tenure expenses and part of a $1.3 million salary enhancement plan. Tuition and fees will rise a combined 2.4 percent if the above, the remainder of the salary plan, a required fee recommendation and an enrollment management proposal are implemented. Tuition and fees will increase 4.2 percent if the above, graduate student support and an additional 1 percent in compensation are implemented.
