WIU cuts funding for public radio station - Steve Tarter, Journal Star

The public radio station staff at Western Illinois University received some bad news Friday: The school is cutting off all funding to the station after February 2019. Jonathan Ahl, general manager of Tri States Public Radio, headquartered on the Macomb campus, said the school provides about a half of the station’s annual $1 million budget. WIU President Jack Thomas made the announcement Friday, noting, “We have made cuts and we will have to continue to make those cuts and we will do the necessary things that we have to do.” Enrollment at Western’s Macomb and Moline campuses has dropped from 11,700 students in 2013 to a projection of 8,000 this fall. http://www.pjstar.com/news/20180817/wiu-cuts-funding-for-public-radio-station
