Kutztown University budget balanced, enrollment slide might be reversed - Reading Eagle
Kutztown University has a balanced budget for the first time in eight years, Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson reported in his annual State of the University report to staff and faculty Friday morning in Schaeffer Auditorium. Under mandate from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education to discontinue using reserve funds to balance its budget, Kutztown's revenues equal its expenses in the $123.2 million financial plan for fiscal 2018-19. In his fourth year as president, Hawkinson said a 2.99 percent tuition increase, a 3.6 percent state appropriation increase, enactment of a campus support fee and $2.5 million in budget cuts played a significant role in balancing the budget without the need for layoffs.
