Quincy College enrollment down 27 percent - Erin Tiernan, The Patriot Ledger
There are just 3,871 students enrolled this year, down from 5,343 last year. Quincy College Associate Vice President of Communications & Marketing Taggart Boyle pointed out that this year’s losses followed one of the biggest years ever for Quincy College in enrollment, which made the loss in enrollment this year seem more severe. By comparison, 5,009 students were enrolled in the school in the fall of 2016. The hits have meant layoffs and a major leadership shakeup for the 60-year-old city college as it tries to regain its reputation and rebuild two of its most lucrative programs. The college slashed its budget by $7.1 million this year and took on three new people to lead it’s most visible positions: Roxanne Mihal was hired to lead the nursing programs in July, followed a week later by the hiring of Dr. Gerald Koocher as the college’s first-ever provost.
