Oregon students, educators oppose tuition hikes, push for more higher ed funding - Natalie Pate, Salem Statesman Journal
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown wants to tap nearly $2 billion more for schools while the state's economy is strong and a legislative committee prepares a multi-billion dollar school package and education policy road map. But advocates for higher education argue more money is needed to not only help K-12 schools, but Oregon's colleges and universities as well. The Oregon Student Association is pushing for an additional $1 billion for the Public Universities Support Fund, $787 million for the Community College Support Fund and $252 million for the Oregon Opportunity Grant.
