The MSU Texas Board of Regents meeting on Thursday marked the approaching end of one era for the university and the beginning of a new one. The MSU Texas Board of Regents recognized President Suzanne Shipley’s upcoming retirement with the renaming of the Sikes Lake Trail to the Suzanne Shipley Trail. The university will transition into the Texas Tech University System Sept. 1 with an interim president, MSU Texas Provost James Johnston, at the helm. Thursday's session was both the board's and President Suzanne Shipley's final regular meeting. Shipley is retiring, effective Aug. 31 and plans to move to Tucson, Arizona.
