Due to financial difficulties mainly caused by COVID-19, Penn State has ordered systemwide budget cuts that leaders within the campuses must apply, according to the university’s executive vice president. “(A)ll units across the university have been subject to budget rescissions and are tasked with finding areas within their units where reductions in expenditures can be made,” wrote Provost Nick Jones in a statement provided by a university spokesman. “(T)eams across the university are taking a careful and thoughtful approach to determine how to most effectively reduce their expenditures while continuing to provide a high-quality education.”
