State may ask Purdue to spend $45 million less - ERIC WEDDLE, Journal Courtier

Purdue University could be cutting more money than anticipated from its budget. The Indiana Commission on Higher Education on Tuesday released its recommendations to Gov. Mitch Daniels on how much each of the seven state colleges and universities should reduce operating costs because of shortfalls in state tax revenues. Purdue is being asked to cut about $45 million, or just over 6 percent of its appropriations. Earlier this month Purdue officials anticipated the number might be significantly lower -- $30 million.
