UNC campuses brace for big cuts - Eric Ferreri, News Observer

UNC system boosters who thought Gov. Beverly Perdue's proposal to cut $192 million from the public university budget was bad news got a cold splash of reality Thursday with the reminder that the cuts could go deeper as the House and Senate do their spending plans. "History tells us the next two budgets we'll see will have deeper cuts than the governor's budget," Rob Nelson, the UNC system's vice president for finance, told the university's governing board Thursday.
