Meredith College will freeze salaries, cut retirement contributions by 2.5 percent, cut 19 positions and raise tuition by 4 percent next year.... Small private schools like Meredith are expected to suffer most from the current downturn in the economy.... Tuition at Meredith will be $24,400 for the 2009-10 school year, whereas tuition to University of North Carolina System schools costs closer to $4,000 for in-state students.
