The budget proposals released by the state Senate and House last week detailed heavier cuts than were previously anticipated. In a March 31 e-mail, UW President Mark Emmert mentioned that the UW community would be harshly affected were the budget to be passed in its present form.... We would have to significantly reduce the number of students admitted to the university just when we have the highest demand in history.”
