When Robin Anita White sought an $80,000 grant for Nicholls State University, she envisioned a computer lab where students could interact and learn using different languages. But now, with Nicholls facing a loss of $5.3 million as the state struggles financially, the lab could no longer be home to the Department of Languages and Literature. That’s because Nicholls’ French and Spanish programs stand to be eliminated. White’s job as a French professor, she said, has already been cut.
