Norfolk State University said Monday that it will eliminate or freeze 31 positions to help cover a $6.2 million state funding reduction announced in December. The move, approved by the school's Board of Visitors, is part of a plan required to show how NSU will address the shortfall from the state. The job cuts, which do not involve layoffs, are expected to save nearly $3 million. They will come from administrative and classified positions through attrition and by freezing openings.
