Cal State San Marcos Announces Furlough Plan - San Diego News 10

More than 1,100 Cal State San Marcos employees will take two unpaid days off each month for the next year and most campus operations will be closed on those days under a furlough plan unveiled by campus officials this week.The plan affects about 500 non-teaching employees and roughly 625 faculty members, according to The North County Times.Sociology professor Don Barrett, who is president of the faculty union's Cal State San Marcos chapter, told the newspaper that instructors will each cancel two of their classes every month. To compensate, students will be assigned extra educational projects or other independent work, he said.
