Embry-Riddle eliminates positions, cuts hours - Mark Harper, East Volusia News-Journal

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has eliminated 21 positions at its Daytona Beach campus, and adjusted the work hours of another 19. The university confirmed the job cuts Monday, about two weeks after informing employees, said Bob Ross, a spokesman for the university. "What caused all this is that with the economic downturn, we've had a decline in student enrollment across all three campuses, not just Daytona Beach," Ross said. "Also, there are a number of students enrolled who have had difficulties paying tuition. Some are having difficulty getting private loans. Some have dropped out. Others are taking the year off or the semester off.
