Education board calls for less cuts to schools - CHRIS CHRISTOFF, DETROIT FREE PRESS

“We’re 34th in college attainment, end of story,” said Lou Glazer, president of Michigan Future Inc., who said the most prosperous states are those with the best educated workforce. "As long as you’re 34 in college attainment, you won’t have prosperity." Glazer was joined by conservative East Lansing economist Patrick Anderson and Phil Power, president of the Ann Arbor think tank Center for Michigan, in urging the board to press lawmakers for action to stabilize funding for state government and schools, and to streamline and improve education.
