PSU asks for more state funds - Anne Danahy, Centre Daily Times

Penn State is asking the state to increase its funding almost 4 percent in the 2010-11 budget year, evens as university leaders acknowledged the state is facing a bleak financial picture. The university trustees’ executive committee approved a request Friday for $360.9 million, including federal stimulus funding. That’s an increase of $13.5 million or 3.9 percent over the amount the university is getting in 2009-10. Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Al Horvath said that if the state meets that request, tuition for in-state students at University Park would increase 4.9 percent.
