S.C. State board OKs more cuts - PHIL SARATA, Times and Democrat

South Carolina State University trustees approved a plan to balance the university budget with some position and salary cuts on Friday. The plan includes the elimination of more than $1.7 million in post-retirement and part-time employee salaries, although officials did not provide details of the cuts. The university is facing a $6.5 million shortfall caused by several factors, including the university’s issuing more scholarships than planned and a 7 percent cut in state funding.
