WSU facing another huge budget cut - Dnews.com
Washington State University faces an additional $13.55 million budget under the budget-balancing proposal suggested by Gov. Chris Gregoire on Wednesday. The proposed cut would come on top of the $54 million reduction in state appropriations WSU has already absorbed this budget cycle. In a WSU news release, President Elson S. Floyd stated the governor's budget plan also "could severely restrict access to WSU and other higher education institutions." It calls for an additional $146 million reduction, or 60 percent, to the state need grant program, Floyd stated. "This reduction will exclude 12,300 students at universities statewide from financial aid and will reduce the grants awarded to remaining needy students who still qualify for assistance," he stated.
