More drastic cuts planned for university: Is UIC dying? - Gregory Royal Pratt, Chicago Flame
The university's budget situation worsened last week as administrators informed department heads and faculty members of numerous measures being considered to cut costs. The Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Dwight McBride, recently wrote an email to the faculty about the situation. In it, he warned the faculty of the hard times ahead and wrote that "[w]e will have to ask ourselves realistically how much university we can reasonably deliver and sustain" in the future. In a meeting with department heads last Wednesday, McBride elaborated on his email and announced several cuts that the university is considering.
