State's budget crisis 'challenges' SIC: Rice - Barry Cleveland, Carmi Times

Dr. Jonah Rice focused on the positive in an address to the Kiwanis Club of Carmi Thursday afternoon. But when questioned about the effect of the state's financial status on Southeastern Illinois College, the institution's interim president was candid. SIC can expect to receive only two of its four scheduled quarterly state aid payments of $1.4 million this year, and the same scenario is expected to play out in Fiscal Year 2011, he told the club at its weekly luncheon meeting at the Farm Bureau Building in Carmi.
