Ventura College student government chips in to restore summer classes - Jean Cowden Moore, VC Star
Two students at Ventura College have decided that what their fellow students really need is more classes so they can graduate on time, not another campus event. So they convinced the student government to contribute $20,000 to add four summer classes this year. “Student government should be more than having little events,” said Raymond Morua, 27, a senator on the executive board of the Associated Students of Ventura College. “We decided to help students out in a way that will have a bigger impact.” The donation represents almost a third of the Associated Students’ total budget of $65,000, said Trevor Zierhut, 22, who came up with the idea along with Morua. Zierhut is the student senate representative on the executive board.
