Illinois State University and Heartland Community College leaders say it’s too early to know the impact of Gov. Pat Quinn’s proposed $1.5 billion cut in education funding. Belt-tightening remains a focus, but to what extent that’s needed remains a mystery to campus officials. “Part of the issue is that we lack specifics,” said ISU spokesman Jay Groves. “We’ll have to see how this plays out in the legislature.” ISU has funding to cover its plans through May, he said. But the state’s proposal is too vague to make further plans.
