University facing 'extreme' cuts - Lee Shearer, Athens Online

University of Georgia administrators raced Friday to meet today's deadline to comply with a new round of "extreme" budget cuts. Under pressure from legislators, University System of Georgia Chancellor Erroll Davis on Thursday directed financial planners at UGA and 34 other public colleges and universities to whack $300 million more from next year's operating funds.
