UC Davis feels budget crunch, cuts 4 sports - Signon San Diego

The University of California Davis will eliminate four of its 27 intercollegiate sports programs as part of its response to funding cuts by the state, campus officials said Friday. UC Davis officials said women’s rowing, men’s wrestling, men’s swimming and diving, and men’s indoor track and field will be discontinued as of July 1. The program cuts will affect 153 student athletes — 73 women and 80 men. Seven coaches will lose their jobs.
