CU-Boulder: Cuts will affect education qualityCampuses share budget plans with Board of Regents - Brittany Anas, Daily Camera
The University of Colorado at Boulder's financial chief told the regents Thursday that the quality of education will "absolutely" be affected by multimillion-dollar budget cuts. Following budget presentations from CU campuses, Regent Jim Geddes, R-Sedalia, asked whether there is any concrete evidence that the quality of education will diminish because of the cuts. "I don't think you can reduce the operating budget by $22 million and not have some impact," responded Ric Porreca, senior vice chancellor for the Boulder campus. The university will eliminate 60 jobs to help address the $9.4 million shortfall for the fiscal year that begins in July. This fiscal year, CU reduced its budget by $12.9 million and cut 75 jobs.
