University of Iowa students will pay a larger chunk of the school’s budget than ever, according to the fiscal 2011 preliminary budget. Officials project students will pay $25.6 million in fiscal 2011, and students from all three regent institutions will pay a combined $53.6 million. For the second year in a row, tuition will generate more money for the UI’s general fund than will state appropriations. Tuition will amount to 51.9 percent; state appropriations will be 41.4 percent.
