Even with no additional funding from the state or university, Bothof believes the athletic department is on the right track.“Over the last three years, I’m not sure any university is giving additional funding to athletics,” Bothof said. “We’ve been pretty lucky in a way that we haven’t had to make any major cuts in programs or drop programs and none of our funding for any of our sport programs have gone down.“I feel much better about things today, having gone through what I think are possibly at this point the most difficult economic times. I know we’re not out of it yet, but we’ve been able to sustain our fundraising, our ticket sales and corporate sponsorships.”
