Economic pressures have forced Cambridge University to draw up a “difficult” budget – and the situation could get “significantly” worse. The latest report said: “The council is acutely aware that producing the budget for 2010–11 has required difficult decisions and, in some cases, expedients which are not in the university’s best interests. “It is clear that schools and institutions have already been prevented from filling posts and implementing initiatives which they had reason to believe would be affordable within previously indicated expenditure forecasts.
