LSU finds shortfall in financial aid funds -Jordan Blum, the Advocate

The quality and quantity of potential LSU freshmen admitted for the fall are on the rise, but now the university is unsure how the needed financial aid dollars will be funded. LSU officials are reporting the potential for its scholarship and financial aid program to be short $12 million.
Stacia Haynie, LSU vice provost for academic affairs, said the gap would be filled but exactly how is undecided, especially during times of ongoing state budget cuts to colleges when academic programs are being cut. The LSU Board of Supervisors on Friday tentatively approved raising the ceiling on the financial aid program from $39 million to $51 million. But some board members and LSU System officials are not pleased the problem was allowed to develop in the first place.
