Sacramento State lays off staff to cover $26M shortfall - Kelly Johnson, Sacramento Business Journal

California State University Sacramento will lay off eight staff employees and eliminate vacant positions, reassign people and reduce the number of temporary employees to close the university’s budget shortfall of about $26 million. Sacramento State officials announced Tuesday that the campus will send layoff notices to the eight staff employees represented by the California State University Employees’ Union. The university has a huge budget deficit for the 2010-11 school year because of drastic cuts in state funding, a news release said.
