Academically sound students who in the past qualified for Louisiana State University at Alexandria's merit-based scholarships may need to look at other options for tuition help. LSUA officials said Monday they may no longer be able to fund the roughly $300,000 in merit-based scholarships they traditionally give to outstanding students. Chancellor Dave Manuel said the cut on scholarship funding might hurt the campus' ability to attract some high-achieving students, but he hopes a solution will be found.
