The University of Texas is cutting 17 workers and 63 unfilled positions in the latest of likely more efforts to cover budget shortfalls. The layoffs affect primarily the Campus Planning and Facilities Management division and will save about $3.1 million, according to a Tuesday press release. The Utilities and Energy Management, Technology Resources and Campus Planning departments are each losing one vacant position.
