OU budget higher than in 2010 despite cuts - Jim Phillips, THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Although Ohio University has cut about $13 million from its base budget, its budget for the fiscal year that starts Thursday is still bigger than the previous year's, though not by much. At its meeting yesterday, the OU Board of Trustees approved the budget of $731 million for all campuses plus OU's osteopathic medical school. Of that, $463.7 million is for the main Athens campus, a 1.9 percent increase over last year's budget. On paper, the overall budget represents a 5.4 percent increase over last year's universitywide budget of just under $694 million, but OU financial officials said the number is artificially inflated by the inclusion of federal Pell grants, which are passed through to students.
