SC budget leader warns colleges about tuition - Associated Press

One of the top budget-writers in South Carolina is upset many colleges and universities are raising tuition so much for this school year. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Tuesday that Florence Sen. Hugh Leatherman has written the state's public schools, warning them not to raise tuition more than 7.3 percent. Leatherman chairs the finance committee and says he would work on budget cuts, tuition limits and a reduction in out-of-state students if schools don't trim the increases.
