No hints in Purdue budget about lifting pay freeze - Eric Weddle, Journal Courier

Purdue University officials have begun the likely arduous process of setting its budget for the 2011-13 biennium. The university's trustees approved an operating appropriations request here Monday that was being called "scaled down." It comes amid a state budget crunch that already caused Gov. Mitch Daniels to ask Indiana's public universities to return $150 million to the state last December. Purdue was asked to cut $45.47 million systemwide. The uncertainty of future state revenue has cast questions of potential layoffs and the possible continuation of a salary freeze on campus. Neither question was answered Monday.
