So, what does a budget cut look like? - Ken Robertson, Tri-City Herald

Tuition costs are zooming up as much as 20 percent. Financial aid money is dwindling. Many students likely will have to leave school sometime this coming year, not because they flunked out but because their checkbooks emptied out and their credit cards maxed out. Herald reporting intern Brier Gabriel was asked recently to testify before the Washington High Education Coordinating Board about the financial straits facing students whose families don’t have the money to help them out. This fall, however, when college students return to our state’s campuses, it will be a little harder to ignore what government budget cuts will mean for our children and grandchildren.
