Kutztown University announced Thursday, July 28, that it will make $3.8 million in cuts to meet the shortfall in its 2011-12 Education and General budget.vThe shortfall is the net result of an 18 percent reduction in state appropriations coupled with a 7.5 percent tuition increase approved by the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.vKU's reductions were made by eliminating budgeted positions, lowering expenditures from retirements, and in savings from previously announced academic reductions.
