East Los Angeles College student and Occupy ELAC protester Marcos Bautista is busy painting over a sign that reads “Tent City,” a term frequently used to describe the dwellings of the Occupy movement. But it did not seem like the right term for Occupy ELAC’s encampment, so when Bautista finishes, the sign will read “Fort Huskies” – to reflect the school’s mascot, as well as their own particular stamp on the Occupy movement. As protesters retreat from city hall lawns and public parks, college campuses have emerged as the latest battleground for the Occupy movement. Many of these college movements formed in October “in solidarity” with the goals of Occupy Wall Street, but quickly zeroed in on their most immediate concerns – rising tuition costs and student debt.
