UConn Tuition Could Go Up 5% Or 6% Next Year - Kathleen Megan, Hartford Courant
University of Connecticut students could see tuition go up 5 percent to 6 percent in each of the next four years if university officials go forward with a budget plan to lower the ratio of students to faculty. At a town-hall-style discussion on campus Monday, Richard Gray, chief financial officer, presented figures that showed that if tuition is increased 5 percent or 6 percent over the next four years, the university could hire more faculty members and reduce the student-to-faculty ratio. This year that ratio is 18-to-1. With four years of increases between 5 percent and 6 percent, the university could reduce the ratio to 15-to-1 by the academic year 2015-16, Gray's projections show.
