Corbett's austere budget hurts college students - Morning Call
Gov. Corbett's cuts to the higher education will be a disaster for Kutztown University. The governor says he cares about jobs. I do not believe him. His idea of job creation is inviting gas drillers and roustabouts into the state. Are these really the sort of long-term careers that will strengthen the commonwealth? Kutztown, like East Stroudsburg, is one of the 14 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities. Along with community colleges and the state-aided universities such as Pittsburgh, Penn State and Temple, higher education has added significant value to the workforce, and by extension, to state revenues. Universities create jobs and launch young people into rewarding careers.
