University of Missouri system tuition hike could average 6.5 percent - TIM BARKER, St. Louis Today

University of Missouri students would face a 6.5 percent increase in tuition and fees starting this summer under a plan being considered this week by system officials.
It's a significant increase over a 3 percent hike originally suggested at the end of last year, before Gov. Jay Nixon revealed plans to trim 12.5 percent from the state's higher education budget. The system's Board of Curators will consider the tuition increase during its regular meeting in Kansas City on Thursday and Friday. While the average increase in tuition and fees for the four-campus system would be 6.5 percent, the impact would be greater on three of the campuses.
