RCC budget cuts could total 40 percent - DAYNA STRAEHLEY, Press-Enterprise

Budget cuts projected for 2012-13 will bring Riverside Community College District reductions to more than 40percent of the current budget, Chancellor Gregory Gray said.
The district has cut about $45 million from its budget over the past three years, and the latest cut would bring the total to nearly $60million, Gray said at a budget forum attended by about 100 students and faculty members Tuesday at Moreno Valley College. The district had similar forums last week at Norco College and Riverside City College.
“The numbers are mind boggling,” Gray said about state cuts to community colleges’ funding. This year, at least 650 classes were eliminated, on top of those cut in previous years.
