West VA State University considers increasing tuition - Dave Boucher, Daily Mail

West Virginia State University leaders believe the school will remain one of the most affordable higher education options in the country, despite a proposed increase in tuition. The cost to attend West Virginia State will have risen by 16.5 percent since 2010 if the proposed 8 percent increase is approved. At a Thursday board of governors meeting, Chairman Larry Rowe said there was little wiggle room in crafting a budget for next year without including the increase. Still, he didn't think an additional $400 a year would make students reconsider West Virginia State for other local institutions. "We're still the best higher education value on the eastern coast of the United States," Rowe said. The increase would not be out of line with similar cost bumps at rival state universities, he said.
