The new leader of Georgia Perimeter College said he wants by next Friday to have a rough plan to close a massive financial deficit, though he could not offer more details to faculty and staff worried for their jobs. Newly appointed interim President Rob Watts has been tasked with bridging what could be a $25 million deficit next year. He told employees during a meeting Friday that the two-year college will not close any campuses. In the first meeting with employees since the shortfall was announced, Watts said some action is likely that will affect workers. Watts said any financial cuts must protect the college's teaching obligations to its nearly 27,000 students. Still, the majority of the college's budget pays for personnel.
