Program at University of Missouri-St. Louis imperiled in state budget process - ELIZABETH CRISP, Post-Dispatch

A program offered through the University of Missouri-St. Louis appears to have gotten tangled up in the state budgeting process and could be at risk. Some senators want to eliminate the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life. Wording that would do just that has been inserted in the Senate’s preferred version of a veterans’ bill that the budget may depend on. The senators argue that the program is biased toward Democrats. “They want taxpayer dollars to subsidize political careers,” Sen. Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau, said Thursday.
